Types of Financial Aid

Financial Aid is funds provided to students and their families to help pay for postsecondary expenses. Expenses can include tuition and fees, room and board, books and supplies, transportation, and personal items such as a laptop. Funds can be given from federal and state governments, colleges and universities, and private organizations.

Grants

Free money based on financial need.

Loans

Federal or private funds that must be repaid.

Work Study

Provides part-time jobs for students with financial need, allowing them to earn money to help pay education expenses. Even if you don’t qualify for Work-Study, you can still get a job on campus.
