Scholarships are financial awards, usually based on merit or talent, that provide an opportunity to alleviate any financial burden and may help cover your college’s tuition, fees, and other educational expenses. By securing scholarships, you can reduce or even eliminate the need for student loans, minimizing your debt after graduation. Sometimes scholarships are a one-time annual award and are usually dispersed evenly over an academic year. In other cases, scholarships are four-year awards that can be automatically renewed pending that you meet the renewal criteria.
