Koa Kumu

Charlene Christenson (Math Kumu/ Team Lead)

Aloha!  I am Mrs. Charlene Christenson, 7th grade Math teacher for Pūʻula Koa.
I am a 1978 graduate of Kamehameha Schools and earned degrees from the University of Hawaii at Hilo and UH-Manoa.
It has been a privilege working for Kamehameha Schools since 1985 in many positions:  para-professional aide, assistant teacher for an extension program at Waianae Elementary school, Middle school dorm advisor, 5th grade teacher, elementary math resource teacher, P.E. summer school teacher, volleyball and track coach, and currently, middle school math teacher.
Not only am I an alumni and faculty member, but a parent of two alumni, class of 2011 and 2013. I am so appreciative of Pauahi’s blessing that I, as well as my own children have benefited from by attending Kamehameha Schools.
I enjoy family ping pong tournaments, participating and watching different sports activities with my family, reading, and traveling.

Anne Lorenzo (Science Kumu)

Lorenzo.Anne

Aloha! I am Anne Lorenzo and I am the science teacher for Pū’ulu Koa. I am thrilled to be joining the middle school this year and look forward to the exciting discoveries we will make together!

I earned my Bachelor’s degree and teaching credential from the University of Southern California and began my teaching career in 1997. I returned to USC and completed my Master’s degree in science education in 2001. I have taught grades 3-9 in the formal classroom and taught all ages in an informal science classroom, the Honolulu Zoo. Science has been my passion from a very young age and I enjoy sharing the sciences with others.

I am originally from Michigan, but attended high school in Las Vegas. I moved to O’ahu in 2003. I have a wonderful husband, Keala, and two adventurous and curious boys, Troy & Dylan. Troy began kindergarten this fall and Dylan joined our family this summer. We have a very large extended family and spend most of our time at family functions and events and/or at the beach.

Christy Mishina (Reading Kumu)

Aloha! I’m Christy Mishina and I am the English teacher on the ‘Ohe Team. I really love being on the ‘Ohe Team and I know you will too.

I am proud to be a graduate of The Kamehameha School’s Class of 1988! Imua! I earned my Bachelor’s of Education and two Master’s of Education degrees from The University of Hawai‘i, Mänoa.

I have a wonderful husband who is an art teacher, and a fabulous daughter named Hunter. We live in ‘Ewa and in the little spare time I have, I enjoy taking pictures, going to the movies, watching TV, and sleeping.

I am extremely proud to be Hawaiian and truly grateful for all of the gifts I have received as both a student and a teacher here. I am happy to be a part of fulfilling Ke Ali‘i Pauahi’s wish to educate fine industrious young men and women.

Ke Ke Aloha Pumehana!
