Students learn about major theories of child development and think critically about the effects of environments (i.e., conditions and practices) on development and growth. Emphasis is placed on appreciating one\u2019s own developmental process. Students\u2019 beliefs and values about children and their development will shape and shift, and they will begin to articulate who they desire to become for their \u2018ohana as future parents and caregivers. Learning will extend beyond the classroom in Semester 2 and culminate in a preschool or primary classroom.
