{"id":450,"date":"2019-10-23T08:43:30","date_gmt":"2019-10-23T18:43:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogsksbeedu.wpenginepowered.com\/khssocialstudies\/?page_id=450"},"modified":"2020-01-23T20:38:52","modified_gmt":"2020-01-24T06:38:52","slug":"honors-u-s-history","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/blogs.ksbe.edu\/khssocialstudies\/honors-u-s-history\/","title":{"rendered":"Honors U.S. History"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b>Honors U.S. History [KHO3166]<\/b> <img decoding=\"async\" class=\"tPic\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.ksbe.edu\/khssocialstudies\/files\/2020\/01\/athleticicon_2020_2021-e1579839064924.png\"><\/p>\n<p>Year Course <\/p>\n<p>Prerequisite: Recommendation by Social Studies teacher or Social Studies Department Head <\/p>\n<p>This course expands upon the regular U.S. History course with its emphasis on the development of higher-level critical thinking skills involving an application, analysis, synthesis, and evaluation of historical concepts.&nbsp; It provides students with a comprehensive study of America&#8217;s economic, political, and social history in chronological order from European exploration of the New World to the present though the emphasis will be placed on U.S. History after the Civil War.&nbsp; <\/p>\n<p>To promote understanding of how ideas and events have shaped this nation, students are engaged primarily in independent work, with cooperative learning activities and group discussions. All students will participate in The National History Day project, which allows students to execute historical research based on a topic of their own choosing.
