{"id":39,"date":"2014-08-15T18:27:16","date_gmt":"2014-08-16T04:27:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogsksbeedu.wpenginepowered.com\/khsphotography\/?page_id=39"},"modified":"2020-01-13T13:09:12","modified_gmt":"2020-01-13T23:09:12","slug":"photo-ii-project-1","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/blogs.ksbe.edu\/khsphotography\/photo-ii\/photo-ii-project-guidelines\/photo-ii-project-1\/","title":{"rendered":"PHOTO II &#8211; Project #1: Autobiography"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><em>Ka \u02bbike a ka makua he hei na ke keiki. <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>The knowledge of the parent is (unconsciously) absorbed by the child.\u00a0 <\/em>Nurture and value my identity as a source of understanding, purpose, meaning, and connection to others.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>AUTOBIOGRAPHY\u00a0\/ NO-FACE SELFIES<\/strong> \u00a0&#8211;\u00a0\u00a0This project is about YOU. \u00a0We take selfies all the time and are pretty familiar with the way we look, but is it really saying anything about who you are?<\/p>\n<p>While we often find that self-portraits are the ultimate\/easiest way to share who you are, but the objects\u00a0and people we around us also tell a huge story. \u00a0Here&#8217;s your chance to look around and photograph things\/people\/places that you think best represents who you are. \u00a0In the end, this project will be a group\u00a0of pictures that describe YOU without actually showing your face. Try not to have an identity crisis over this &#8211; this is only 2 pictures.\u00a0 There&#8217;s no way we could learn all there is to know about you in 2 pictures. Instead, this is just a teaspoon of the well that is you.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Questions to think about<\/strong>: \u00a0What are some\u00a0objects\u00a0in your life that you feel a strong connection towards? \u00a0Trophies,\u00a0jewelry passed down by family, a musical instrument, sports equipment? \u00a0What do these things say about you? \u00a0What about people you love or have heavily influenced you? \u00a0Your parents, grandparents, best friends, your bus driver? \u00a0How about going to a place that you feel most comfortable? \u00a0Would this be your house, your favorite beach, a nice hiking spot?<\/p>\n<p>Project Outcomes:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Rebuild a familiarity and understanding of how to use film SLR cameras<\/li>\n<li>Recall how to correctly process 35mm bw film<\/li>\n<li>Use an enlarger and printing chemistry correctly to create well developed prints<\/li>\n<li>Reflect on how photography is a form of visual communication<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>PROJECT #1 RUBRIC &#8211;<a href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/file\/d\/1XrcrTW6BPNVNGKjc42vaCNWfwrDYpDJe\/view?usp=sharing\">Photo2-Project1-Autobiography<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>INSPIRATION:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.vivianmaier.com\/gallery\/self-portraits\/#slide-5\">Vivian Maier<\/a>\u00a0became a nanny in New York during the 1950s and photographed throughout her life. \u00a0Her series of self-portraits show us what she looked like, but they also show us the world around her and her place in the world.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/places.designobserver.com\/media\/pdf\/Changing_Place_435.pdf\">Andrew Bush<\/a> &#8211; &#8220;Bonnettstown Hall was a house built in 1737. In it, when Bush photo- graphed it, lived four elderly people who had earlier had varied careers in other parts of the world. The photographs showed the house and its rooms, including private rooms with the possessions of the tenants, and the rooms where food was prepared, with signs of its preparation. Interestingly, only one picture included one of the tenants, a retired Royal Navy Commander.
