{"id":1181,"date":"2016-08-11T10:05:45","date_gmt":"2016-08-11T20:05:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogsksbeedu.wpenginepowered.com\/khsphotography\/?page_id=1181"},"modified":"2020-01-13T16:54:50","modified_gmt":"2020-01-14T02:54:50","slug":"ind-study-project-1-autobiography","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/blogs.ksbe.edu\/khsphotography\/independent-study\/photo-iii-project-guidelines\/ind-study-project-1-autobiography\/","title":{"rendered":"Ind Study: Project #1 &#8211; Autobiography"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>OVERVIEW:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>If you&#8217;re in Independent Study, chances are that you&#8217;ve done an Autobiography project in Photo I or Photo II.\u00a0 HOWEVER, that was so long ago!\u00a0 You&#8217;ve changed!\u00a0 It&#8217;s been months or years since the last time you took Photo II &#8211; that means you&#8217;ve experienced months\/years worth of joy\/struggle\/knowledge!\u00a0 You&#8217;ve experienced life in more ways than ever!<\/p>\n<p>And even if you went all that time without learning a single thing, you at least know more about photography!<\/p>\n<p>With that said, now that you are a different individual\/photographer that you were in Photo II, how would you approach this project differently?\u00a0 Would you use a different camera, new film, work in the studio, or try your hand at a new photoshop technique? \u00a0Here&#8217;s your chance to try it out.<\/p>\n<p>One thing to keep in mind with Ind. Study is that the aim of all your projects are to create\u00a0<em>bodies of work<\/em>. \u00a0Think about your final project from Photo II, that was (supposed to be) a body of work. \u00a0A collection of different yet cohesive photographs, united by a refined message\/idea, with a similar aesthetic\/technique\/feel to them all. \u00a0While this isn&#8217;t an AP course, I loosely base some things in Ind. Study on AP 2-D Art outcomes\/expectations, particularly looking at their guidelines for portfolio review. \u00a0Your final project for Ind. Study is to put together a portfolio of your work on display in the Spring Senior Showcase, so this is practice for that.<\/p>\n<p><strong>WHAT TO TURN IN:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>1 Project Proposal<\/li>\n<li><strong>2 contact sheets\u00a0<\/strong>(for film: 24 pictures per CS; for digital: 40 pictures per CS)<\/li>\n<li><strong>4 8&#8243;x10&#8243; prints<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>1 Project Evaluation<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>PROJECT PURPOSE:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Review camera operations, film processing, printing (digital or darkroom)<\/li>\n<li>Explore equipment and techniques that YOU are interested in<\/li>\n<li>Gain practice in developing focused bodies of work.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>INSPIRATION:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Review the <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.ksbe.edu\/khsphotography\/photo-ii\/photo-ii-project-guidelines\/photo-ii-project-1\/\">Photo II Autobiography Assignment Page<\/a> and the <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.ksbe.edu\/khsphotography\/photo-i\/photo-i-project-guidelines\/photo-i-project-1-autobiography\/\">Photo I Autobiography Assignment Page<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/apstudents.collegeboard.org\/courses\/ap-2d-art-and-design\/sample-portfolios-by-year\">AP 2-D Art &amp; Design<\/a> has some really great sample portfolios on their website, along with student write ups and judges&#8217; justification for the portfolio rating. \u00a0While they have examples of all types of art\/media, <a href=\"https:\/\/apcentral.collegeboard.org\/series\/ap-studio-art-2-d-design\/2018-portfolio\/student-samples-portfolio-exam-sections\/score-6?course=ap-2-d-art-and-design\">THIS LINK <\/a>\u00a0has 2 photo portfolios that both scored a 6 for their sustained investigation of an idea and their range of approaches.
