Dual Credit

Dual Credit Program

DUAL CREDIT (DC) — Participation in dual credit is optional.

Kapālama High School is partnering with the University of Hawaiʻi (UH) system and Hawaiʻi Pacific University (HPU), to offer specified course that may be eligible to earn high school and college credits concurrently. KS will be financially supporting the tuition and materials/supplies for dual credit courses. These select courses will be available to juniors and seniors (and selected sophomore and freshman depending on the course level) in good academic standing and who exemplify good conduct and meet established criteria of the respective post-secondary institutions such as SAT/ACT, academic qualifying tests, or GPA (grade point average). Additionally, as college courses, these credits will receive 5.0 weighting on the grade scale.

Please note that requesting a dual credit course does NOT register you automatically into the course. Once you request a dual credit course, you will receive email communication with next steps. Separate paperwork needs to be submitted to KS by designated due dates. If you have any questions, please email dualcredit@ksbe.edu.

Transferability of credits and transcripts to specific colleges/universities is the responsibility of the student/family. We highly suggest that you contact your college of choice to confirm transfer credit processes and fees, if applicable. Taking these courses does NOT mandate you to attend these institutions after graduation.
