Travel

Interisland Flights: The Boarding Department Travel Coordinator canceled all interisland group travel return flight arrangements. Flights will be re-booked at a future date.

Continental US flights: Parents are responsible for making changes to their student’s ticket. Parents should contact the airline carriers to cancel their original return date and ask to keep their tickets open to reschedule. Most airlines have adjusted their policies to allow up to one year for changes. Parents will need to contact the airlines to re-schedule once return dates are announced.

COVID-19 Resources

There are a variety of resources for families to support students through the concerns about the COVID-19 virus and physical distancing. First, be aware of your own emotional response during this time, and do take time to process these feelings within your support system.

Kamehameha Schools Kapālama will continue to provide various supports for students and ʻohana during this time of distance learning.  It is our honor and privilege to partner with our ʻohana to provide the care and support our haumāna need to realize their potential and to empower resilience and success.  Rest assured that our staff will be available during school hours to assist you and your ʻohana with any academic and social-emotional needs.  (Whom to Contact slidedeck)

Social & Emotional Well-Being

Social and emotional well-being supports the development of the whole self, including a healthy balance of mental, social/emotional and physical well-being.  Focus involves strengthening effective mindsets and behaviors and effective coping skills during times of challenge and conflict.  The grade level counselor will be your first point of contact. (Link to Resources in Your Community)

Academics

The first line of student support will be your respective kumu.  Kumu can be reached via KS email, through dedicated online Office Hours, as well as through the kumu’s designated instructional platform.  If additional supports are needed, please email your child’s assigned grade level counselor who will be able to assess the situation and refer your child to the appropriate supports.  Please note that teachers and counselors will have the ability to setup videoconference sessions, as needed.
