Keiki News Team SY 2018-19

In the beginning of the school year, he iwakālua mau haumāna in fourth grade decided that their Pahāna ʻIʻini is news broadcasting! They committed themselves to a year long program. They met during La Noʻonoʻo days and some of them chose to meet during lunch periods too. Along the way, they learned so many skills about news broadcasting including interviewing, video recording, editing, and green screen technology. Above all, they learned that producing one news clip can take up a lot of time, so e na haumāna learned to laulima and work creatively as one Keiki News Team with nine news crews. In addition, they practiced patience and determination even when technology or filming was challenging they did not give up. E na haumāna sure have a better perspective of how news people (journalists) work! Mahalo to all classroom e na kumu for always being flexible and supporting this fun learning experience.

Our news is pre-recorded and child centered. Students produce their own news stories by choosing a topic, generating questions, formulating the news story and then editing the video before publishing to our KES ʻOhana via this blogsite.
