{"id":1351,"date":"2019-09-29T16:21:15","date_gmt":"2019-09-30T02:21:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogsksbeedu.wpenginepowered.com\/kes34specials\/?page_id=1351"},"modified":"2019-10-03T14:29:49","modified_gmt":"2019-10-04T00:29:49","slug":"pe-4","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/blogs.ksbe.edu\/kes34specials\/pe-4\/","title":{"rendered":"P.E. grade 4"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Kamehameha Elementary School<br>4th Grade Physical Education<br>Teacher: Ms. Brianna Bean<br>2019-2020<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Vision: Students who exit KES Physical Education and Olakino classes will have the skills, fitness, and attitudes necessary to lead a healthy lifestyle.&nbsp;<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Basic Concepts<br> <\/strong>Papa M\u0101kau Kino and Papa M\u0101kau Ola are an integral part of each child\u2019s holistic development.&nbsp; Both classes are aligned to develop physically literate and health-conscious students. Guided through movement experiences, cognitive concepts, and real-world application opportunities, students improve their health with the intent to establish the understanding that health is important both individually and collectively. The goal of Papa M\u0101kau Kino and Papa M\u0101kau Ola is to instill within students the attitude, skills, and concepts, which will allow them to live a life of wellness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Basic Skills<br>\n<\/strong>The\nKamehameha Elementary School Physical Education program is an exposure program.\nThe students are given an exposure to basic physical skills through drills,\npractices, lead up games, games, and various catching skills, eye-hand\ncoordination skills, basic motor skills, Hawaiian games, jump rope skills,\nswimming and water safety skills, cooperative skills, and fitness improvement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Fitness<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Good health-related physical fitness is built over time. The students will be learning and practicing fitness concepts that will help maintain and\/or improve the student\u2019s fitness level. Students in 4th<sup> <\/sup>grade will continue to improve their fitness with&nbsp;<em>Fitnessgram<\/em>&nbsp;fitness testing and setting goals to improve.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Health<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Emphasis\nis on health of the whole child and the 6 components of health: physical,\nmental, emotional, social, spiritual, and cultural health. Students will learn\nthe importance of being healthy in all domains and learn skills that will\nenable them to make healthy decisions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Physical Education Attire<br> <\/strong>Beginning in 4<sup>th<\/sup>&nbsp;grade and continuing through 5<sup>th<\/sup>&nbsp;and 6<sup>th<\/sup>, students are required to wear P.E. shirts and shorts for P.E. classes. Students&#8217; names need to be on the front upper left-hand side of their shirt and on the inside of the waistband of the shorts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>P.E. Special Activities<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong><em>Jump Rope Demonstration Team (7:10-7:40am, 1<\/em><\/strong><strong><em><sup>st<\/sup><\/em><\/strong><strong><em>&nbsp;and 2<\/em><\/strong><strong><em><sup>nd<\/sup><\/em><\/strong><strong><em>&nbsp;recess)<br>\n<\/em><\/strong>Students\nwork on various jump rope stills to music and may be asked to perform at other\nschools and various functions.<\/li><li><strong><em>Jogging Club (7:00-7:30am)<br>\n<\/em><\/strong>Students\nwork on their cardiovascular endurance every Tuesday and Thursday before\nschool.
