If you\u2019re looking for some community events and activites to share with your \u2018ohana or an experience for your \u00a0keiki to participate in, Hilo offers these for the month of September:<\/p>\n

Sept. 3<\/strong> \u2013 Kids\u2019 Workshop at Home Depot: Make a whiteboard with a frame (to hold pens).\u00a0 The workshop is open to all ages and is free.\u00a0 Although the hours listed are 9-12, you may show up at any time with your child.\u00a0 Please register online at:<\/p>\n

Sept. 9 \u2013 Nov. 18\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Hip-Hop for Kids\u00a0 <\/u><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Max Belliard will teach hip-hop dancing for ages 6-11. Styles include breakdance, tutting, popping & locking, hip-hop choreography, freestyle and more. No dance experience is required.\u00a0 Classes will meet at the UH Hilo Old Gym on Fridays from 5:15-6:15pm, September 9 \u2013 November 18, with no class on November 11. Cost
\nis $60.\u00a0 This class is offered through The College of Continuing Education and Community Service (CCECS) and is a non-credit class designed especially for children.<\/p>\n

\nSept. 13 \u2013 Nov. 1\u00a0\u00a0 <\/strong>Art for Keiki: Adventures in Painting<\/u><\/em><\/strong> will teach keiki ages 7-10
\ntechnical painting and drawing skills while engaging them in exploring artistic elements in their environment. Instructor Kellie Miyazu currently teaches elementary school art and is the Designer-in-Residence at the East Hawai\u2018i Cultural Center. Classes will be held on Tuesdays from 4:30-6:30 pm, September 13 \u2013
\nNovember 1. Location is to be determined. Cost is $105 and includes all required supplies.

Sept. 28\u00a0 Toying With Science with Garry Krinsky<\/u><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Physical entertainer Garry Krinsky kicks-off the University of
\nHawai`i at Hilo Performing Arts Center\u2019s 2016-17 season with a
\nhigh energy celebration of all things science with Toying with
\nScience on Wednesday, September 28, at 7 pm.<\/p>\n

It has been said that Krinsky resembles a living cartoon with his
\nanimated movement and non-stop energy. He was an original member
\nof the Boston Buffoons, co-founder of the Patchwork Players, and a
\nmember of The Wright Bros., a New England vaudeville troupe.<\/p>\n

Toying with Science explores the scientific principles of gravity,
\nleverage, fulcrums and simple machines. Combining circus skills,
\nmime, original music, and audience involvement, Krinsky
\ninvestigates basic scientific information and delves into the
\nimaginations of scientists who explore our world. He brings his
\nscience toys to life with motion, music, humor and insight. The
\nperformance is suitable for audiences of all ages.<\/p>\n

\u201cMr. Krinsky created his Toying with Science program, originally
\ncommissioned by the Museum of Science in Boston, in 1995 and has
\nsince been touring it across the U.S. and Canada to rave reviews,\u201d
\nsaid Performing Arts Center Manager Lee Dombroski.<\/p>\n

Tickets are reserved seating and priced at $15 General, $10
\nDiscount and $7 UH Hilo\/Hawai\u2019i CC students (with a valid student
\nID) and children, up to age 17, pre-sale, or $20, $15, and $12 at
