The Pokemon Go! craze has hit the 5B FISH! \u00a0Hard! \u00a0The students and I decided to “dive in” the latest worldwide craze of Pokemon Go! \u00a0and invite it into our classroom, but with a twist, of course! \u00a0Students shared their extensive ‘ike & excitement on this game that has captivated the world with me during our morning meetings…hmmm, talk about teachable moments!<\/p>\n
Students brainstormed how we could morph this captivating game to make it unique to us at Kamehameha-Kula Ha’aha’a. \u00a0Kamehameha Go! was born! \u00a0The students have been working hard at replicating the experience here on campus & hope that it will “catch” the attention of our poki’i, kumu, and ohana. \u00a0They are creating “Imua Stops” (pokestops) where haum\u0101na can gain new learning about the specific area, kahua ho’ike (poke gyms) where haum\u0101na can test their skills and challenge each other with new found learning, and will soon be creating palapalahonua (map) to track their journey.<\/p>\n
In our class journey so far…we have incorporated culture-based education with our CCSS with research of our wahi pana, math strands in measurement, tech skills, and a whole lot of laughs, smiles, and FUN! \u00a0We researched, calculated, measured, created tech experiences, \u00a0incorporated art, walked distances, & learned new mele…all the while practicing collaboration skills, being attentive listeners, and sharing the KULEANA of leadership.<\/p>\n
The students and I \u00a0hope to unveil our collective efforts to the keiki of Kula Ha\u02bbaha\u02bba real soon while hana k\u016bpono to earn alaka\u02bbi status as the leaders of our division. \u00a0“Lawe i ka ma\u02bbalea a k\u016b\u02bbono\u02bbono…take learning and make it deep!”<\/em>\u00a0 “Dive deep” with the 5B FISH! as Kamehameha Go! is coming real soon to a Kula Ha\u02bbaha\u02bba near you!<\/p>\n Click on the videos below to see how the FISH! had fun with creating Pikachu bookmarks and discovered new learnings in math! \u00a0The bookmarks are a reminder to ka\u02bbu i\u02bba that reading is FUN as we work towards our 9 genre trimester goal and ONE MILLION WORD year end goal!! \u00a0Enjoy the journey with us!<\/p>\n
