What Is Genius Hour?<\/a><\/p>\n

\"image\"<\/a>The 5B FISH! are diving in to uncharted waters…to become the Innovators of the future! \u00a0Celebrate creativity! \u00a0That\u02bbs what we do in class. \u00a0Everyone has moments of genius! \u00a0The students will soon be embarking on focusing on those “pops” of genius with “Genius Hour \u2797 2!” \u00a0This is a time when students are encouraged to learn about THEIR passion. \u00a0Learn about something that they want to learn more about, a problem they want to address or simply gain more mana\u02bbo about their LOVE!<\/p>\n

Genius hour requirements:<\/strong>(adopted from GeniusHour.com):<\/p>\n

1)<\/strong> Students MUST begin with an Inquiry Question<\/em>. \u00a0If the question can be answered with a quick google search, it is too narrow and need to be adjusted.<\/p>\n

2)<\/strong> The project MUST involve research<\/em>. \u00a0Resources used for project must be documented and shared out.<\/p>\n

3)<\/strong> \u00a0The “Pop of Genius” project MUST be shared\/presented<\/em>. \u00a0To the class and the world!<\/p>\n

Some students find it difficult to work with new style of ipad cases…they used their creativity to solve this small, but relevant issue!<\/p>\n

Stay tuned as students work on their first “Pop of Genius” project this week! \u00a0Ask your keiki all about their inquiry question to learn what they are passionate about! \u00a0Here is a sampling of inquiry questions the students have come up with and will be working in the upcoming weeks: \u00a0How do I begin coding to make a video game? \u00a0How helpful would holographic images be to communicate? \u00a0How can football be a safer sport? \u00a0How do we help the homeless population? \u00a0What makes a shoe comfortable? \u00a0Will tugboats be part of our future? \u00a0What makes “pop” in a baseball bat? \u00a0How do Computer Engineers impact our world? \u00a0Dive back into our FISH!bowl as the students share their GENIUS with the world!<\/p>\n
