Reminder about Admit Slips & Attendance Policy:
\n<\/strong><\/span>If a student is absent in any class and returns without an Admit Slip, please send them directly to the MS office to retrieve one. The\u00a0slips are to ensure that students communicate with\u00a0their teachers about absence and make up work. As practiced, if a student is considered excused they will have the ability to do their makeup work. If considered otherwise, students will not have the opportunity to make up their work. After initialing an Admit slip and communicating with student about homework (signifying the teacher has acknowledged their absence and provided assignments), please help to remind the student to\u00a0<\/span>return the signed slip to the Office<\/span>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Picture Retakes:<\/span> \u00a0<\/strong>those of you that were absent or want to retake your school\u00a0<\/span>pictures, retakes will be on Thursday, Oct. 2. \u00a0Please see Mrs. Ah Chong for a new packet.<\/span><\/p>\n

Naming of Virtual Point Game<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

We are still seeking suggestions for this year\u2019s advisory\/grade level challenge that describes the continual adding of Spirit Points and the subtraction of points for infractions.\u00a0 Get creative and think of a great name for our Kula Waena\u2019s game!\u00a0 Entries can be submitted for the rest of this week (advisors can turn in their suggestions too) \u2026 doing so will earn Spirit Points for your advisory and grade level!<\/p>\n

Advisory Name and Artwork<\/strong><\/span>
\nCongratulations to the advisories who earned either 250 pts or 200 pts for turning in their name\/artwork over the past two weeks!\u00a0 If your advisory hasn\u2019t done so yet, you still can do so this week and earn 150 pts (75 pts for the name and 75 pts for the artwork).<\/p>\n

Middle School Sports:<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

– Cross Country: Mondays and Thursdays practice from 3:30-5:30<\/p>\n

– Girls Volleyball: Tuesdays and Thursdays practice from 3:30-5:30<\/p>\n

Concussion Tests:
\n<\/strong><\/span>All students wanting to participate in soccer, basketball, wrestling, and\/or volleyball, need to take a baseline concussion test.<\/strong><\/p>\n

For students that have not already taken a test for this school year, the next test is scheduled for\u00a0Wednesday, September 17\u00a0at Keku`iapoiwa<\/strong>\u00a0(the high school learning center).\u00a0Check-in for middle school students is at 2:30pm.<\/strong>\u00a0Tests will be conducted in groups of 20. The test is first come, first served. The last group will begin no later than\u00a06:00pm. If you miss this opportunity, the next test will be\u00a0Tuesday, November 4.\u00a0The final test for the school year will be offered at the end of January 2015.<\/p>\n

Students needing to take the test are sixth graders, seventh graders, students new to a high risk sport, and those who suffered a head injury since their last baseline test. Please contact an athletic trainer to verify if you need to take the test this year (982-0632).<\/p>\n
