ALL water bottles must be CLEAR so that staff members can see the contents of the bottle at a glance.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: rgb(0, 128, 0);\"><b>Cell Phones<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Just a reminder that the use of cell phones during the school day is not allowed, unless special permission has been granted by a staff member. \u00a0Your phones may be used at the bus ramp prior to 7:45 am and after 2:50 pm (1:45 pm Wednesdays) for <b>COMMUNICATION<\/b> purposes only with parents, coaches, etc. provided that \u00a0you let a staff member at the bus ramp know your intentions.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: rgb(255, 0, 255);\"><b><i>Afterschool Hula Intersession:<\/i><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p><i>For sign ups and more information, please see Kumu Kimo. <\/i><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: rgb(255, 102, 0);\"><b>For 7th and 8th graders:<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p>If you want to take a new id picture, you can come to the computer lab before school, recess or at lunch recess to get this done. \u00a0Last day for new pictures will be this Thursday. \u00a0ID\u2019s will be printed and distributed on Friday.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: rgb(51, 102, 255);\"><b>\u2018Oi Kelakela Contest<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Show your spirit in one of two ways ..<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b>As an advisory \u2026<\/b>Think of a catchy name and logo and submit it to Mr. Chow by Friday 8\/29\/14 for 250 advisory and grade level spirit points (125 pts for the name and 125 pts for the logo \u2013 artwork must be submitted).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><b>As an individual \u2026<\/b>Think of a catchy name for our \u2018Oi Kelakela \u201cHouse Cup\u201d type of challenge. \u00a0Submit it to Mr. Chow by Friday 8\/29\/14 and earn advisory and grade level spirit points, as well as special treats for the top three individuals. \u00a0Voting will be done by students as well as a committee of teachers.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: rgb(255, 0, 255);\"><b>MS Girls Volleyball<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Girls volleyball <b>practice will begin on Thursday, August 28, 3:30 to 5:30 pm<\/b>. Only those who complete all athletic paperwork will be allowed to practice. ALEKS uses adaptive questioning to quickly and accurately determine exactly what a student knows and doesn&#8217;t know in a course. ALEKS then instructs the student on the topics she is most ready to learn. As a student works through a course, ALEKS periodically reassesses the student to ensure that topics learned are also retained. ALEKS courses are very complete in their topic coverage and ALEKS avoids multiple-choice questions.
