ʻApu Lanakila – T3 Game Changer

Trimester 3 brings a new way to  earnadvisory points …  in order to provide opportunities to mālama our beautiful campus, Mrs. Pacheco and Mr. Chow will be starting up our Ka ʻUmeke Laulima program again.  For students new to our Kula Waena this year, you can think of this as a virtual job board where advisories can volunteer to complete tasks here at school.  Some of the jobs that are available are as follows:
(1)  Moving dirt in our new mala extension
  • 5000 points for 200 minutes of work by half an advisory (SUPERVISION REQUIRED!)
  • 5000 points for 100 minutes of work by an entire advisory (SUPERVISION REQUIRED!)
(2)  Weeding in the mala
  • 1000 to 5000 points depending on the area to be weeded
(3)  Scrubbing the green algae off of sidewalks and downspout areas
  • 2000 points for concrete surrounding Building 1
  • 1500 points for concrete surrounding Building 2
  • 1000 points for concrete surrounding Building 11
(4)  Cleaning the downspouts that are near the tetherball and morning snack areas
  • 1000 points for clearing debris from the bottom of each downspout
  • 1000 points for straightening and unbending downspouts that have been damaged/dented (SUPERVISION REQUIRED!)
(5)  Clearing gravel from grassy areas and placing the gravel back in the contained areas that border our covered walkways
  • 1500 points for covered walkway from snack area to Laʻamea
  • 1500 points for covered walkway from bus ramp area to Haʻaeamahi
  • 1250 points for walkway from Bldg 11 to Laʻamea
  • 1000 points for walkway from Bldg 2 to Bldg 11
This year, advisories will need to sign up for jobs directly with Mrs. Pacheco and then meet with Mr. Chow to get started.  All jobs will start on 3/9/16 – some will also be available on selected days during Spring Break if your advisory is up to it!

Advisories that do not complete the job in a timely manner will be charged with demerits for the same amount of points that would have been earned … so be sure that your advisory will follow through once you sign up for a job!

Middle School Sports:
Boys Basketball: Practice this week on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday in Laʻamea Gym from 3:30-5:30
Girls Basketball: Practice this week on Wednesday and Thursday in Laʻamea Gym from 3:30-5:30
Golf: Practice on Tuesday and Thursday at Hilo Muni from 3:30-4:30
Cheerleading: Practice on Wednesday from 3:00-5:45 and Friday from 3:30-5:30 in Keaka Playcourt
Track: Practice on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday from 3:45 – 5:15 at Paiʻea Stadium
