{"id":28,"date":"2013-08-27T11:26:28","date_gmt":"2013-08-27T21:26:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogsksbeedu.wpenginepowered.com\/hesipad\/?page_id=28"},"modified":"2013-08-28T11:52:11","modified_gmt":"2013-08-28T21:52:11","slug":"web-tools","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/blogs.ksbe.edu\/hesipad\/web-tools\/","title":{"rendered":"Web Tool Information"},"content":{"rendered":"<p align=\"center\"><i>K\u016b I Ke Ao \u2013 Be of the world.\u00a0 Be like the world in which one lives in.<\/i><\/p>\n<p>The statement above is one of the components of Kamehameha Schools WEO or Working Exit Outcomes.\u00a0 The WEO help to guide us, as educators, in the direction that we take in providing learning opportunities for our students. \u00a0In an effort to allow our students to <i>K\u016b I Ke Ao <\/i>or <i>Be of the world, <\/i>we will be learning about the appropriate use of technology in class and putting the things that we learn into practice.\u00a0 As a part of this twenty-first century learning, we will be using a variety of Web 2.0 tools. \u00a0Below you will find a list of the tools that we are using along with the web addresses. \u00a0Each of these tools has been created especially for educators and students.\u00a0 All student involvement is overseen and controlled by teachers.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.edmodo.com\">Edmodo<br \/>\n<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.edmodo.com\/corporate\/privacy-policy\">Edmodo Privacy Policy<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.google.com\/apps\/intl\/en-GB\/edu\/\">Google Apps<br \/>\n<\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/www.google.com\/apps\/intl\/en\/terms\/education_terms.html\">Google Apps Terms of Service<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/voicethread.com\">Voicethread<\/a><br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/voicethread.com\/termsofuse\/\">Voicethread\u00a0Terms of Use<\/a><\/p>\n<p>It is important that you understand that we are using the versions of these tools that have been developed for educators and students.\u00a0 With this there are a variety of privacy options.\u00a0 Some of the work that is done using these tools will be completely private, only viewable by the students and myself. \u00a0Other work that is produced will be semi-private.\u00a0 Semi-private means the student work will not be public on the internet and will not show up if searched for with a search engine.\u00a0 But, if the student or teacher shares the link, anyone with the link can see the student\u2019s work.\u00a0 This is an ideal way for students to be able to share their work with others but still maintain a certain amount of privacy online.\u00a0 It\u2019s similar to an unlisted phone number.<\/p>\n<p>Please also realize that your child will be using a teacher-monitored account for each of these tools, for school related purposes only.\u00a0 If your child is using one of the sites at home for a school project, that is fine.\u00a0 Because these are web based tools all changes from any computer are able to be monitored by the teacher.\u00a0 However, if your child would like to use the tools for purposes other than school projects, it is important that you realize that without the school version of these tools a student must be 13 years old to use them and\/or have parental permission, depending on the tool.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>K\u016b I Ke Ao \u2013 Be of the world.\u00a0 Be like the world in which one lives in.
