Papa ‘Ekolu has “adopted” a family for our service learning project. It is a family of six living on the Hamakua Coast. The father of the family has recently been laid off from work and the mother is unable to work due to illness. The four children range in ages from 20 months old to 9 years old. The family has one girl and three boys. <\/p>\n

The family is in need of basic necessities such as diapers, baby wipes, bath soap, toothbrushes, etc. It is sad because they are having such a hard time and sometimes can’t afford gas for their car. When this happens, the children are unable to get to school. We hope that with the money our students donate, we can help make Christmas a little brighter for them.<\/p>\n
