Helping the Monarch Butterflies

Emma Petner, a senior here at KS, is helping our keiki to learn about butterflies.  Yesterday she helped to teach a lesson on an endemic Hawaiian species, the Kamehameha butterfly, which comes from the monarch family.  Students are learning the importance of protecting the butterfly’s habitat as well as how to preserve the Hawaiian ecosystem.  On April 20th, Emma and our keiki will build an actual garden outside of our classroom to provide a place for the butterflies to multiply.  Thank you, Emma!
