Speech Festival 2012

It’s that time again for memorizing a piece of writing and reciting it to our classmates and teachers. Both 3A and 3B will participate in the Speech Festival this year by selecting a fable to memorize and sharing it with others. Students may choose to perform alone or with a partner. Scoring will be based on four components: Preparation, Delivery, Body action and Poise. A rubric was sent home today and is also posted here for you, if you need it. This will be used for scoring, as well as for a significant portion of the students’ 2nd Trimester speaking grade.

Here’s the timeline for the speech festival:
* January 11th-29th: Select and practice memorizing/performing a fable
* January 30th: Class Presentations
* January 31st: Semi-Finals: 3A and 3B
* February 1st: Finals; Lunalilo Hale @ 8:30 a.m.

Students should find time to practice their fable at home every day. Minimal time will be given to practice in class, however, students will be given time to rehearse with partners, if necessary.
