What’s a Thinking Map?

Do you know what a Thinking Map is? Well, on Monday I learned that Thinking Maps are tools that can be used for life-long learning. Kula Ha’aha’a faculty and staff were inserviced on how to use 8 visual patterns that are based on a fundamental thinking process. The maps allow us to have concrete images of our abstract thoughts. Students at KS will be learning how to use some of the 8 Thinking Maps this year to help them become independent critical thinkers.

Yesterday, Mrs. Debus introduced a map called a Circle Map, which can be used for brainstorming or defining in context. Today in reading, the students used it to help them study for their test on Sarah, Plain and Tall. Here are some pictures from the work they did today. If your child was in class, ask them to explain the task and what they learned from it.
