Trustee Doug Ing, who has served eleven years as a Trustee for Kamehameha Schools, will be ending his term on December 31st.\u00a0 He took some time yesterday to visit our campus as a trustee for the last time.\u00a0 It was a special day indeed.<\/p>\n
Trustee Ing was greeted and welcomed to our campus \u00a0by students from each division, elementary, middle and high school, along with operations staff\u00a0 and administrators in a traditional ho\u02bbokipa.\u00a0\u00a0Kumu Silva’s \u00a0papa \u02bbeha provided a few mele along with “Ke Lei Maila” as Trustee Ing was bedecked with lei of aloha and all who attended had an opportunity to honi Trustee Ing.<\/p>\n
Following the ho\u02bbokipa, Trustee Ing spent some time with papa \u02bbelima students who prepared and asked some great questions.\u00a0 “How did you become a trustee?”\u00a0 “What do you like the most about being a trustee?”\u00a0 “What is your legacy as you leave Kamehameha”\u00a0 Wow, wonderful questions.\u00a0 His anwsers were poignant and the students paid close attention.\u00a0 His hope for the future of Kamehameha schools is to reach more native Hawaiian children beyond the campues.\u00a0 \u00a0 His advice to papa \u02bbelima – “make good, sound choices and live by the values that you are taught”.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
