Each month, our grade level teachers select two students who have demonstrated our three school-wide behavior expectations, Palekana (Be Safe), Ho`ihi (Be Respectful) & Kuleana (Be Responsible) within the classroom.
The parents & `ohana are then invited to have lunch with our respective citizens and sit up on the stage as part of their recognition. The citizens are then called to the front of the stage where they are honored by their fellow classmates and teachers.
Every Spring, our kula holds elections for the new school year `Aha `Opio (Student Council) officers. We had a record number of students who tossed in their hat as they vied for the offices of President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer. It was a very close race!
Our officers are the alaka`i (leaders) amongst our students.
Congratulations to Miss Kalei Chang and Mrs. Elaine Hara, both serving 5 years on our campus, Mrs. Darleen Varize who celebrate 10 years of employment with KS, and our newest member, Mrs. Healani Waiau, with 20 years of service.
Mai poina-there will be NO SCHOOL for students this Friday, September 3. It is a K-12 Faculty In-Service Day and all faculty and staff members will be hard at work at school. Rest. Relax. And enjoy an extra long weekend since Monday, September 6, is a State holiday.
All students are encouraged to wear Aloha attire this Friday, August 27th. Aloha Friday is typically held on the last Friday of the month although there are exceptions to this “rule”. Check out our calendar on the right sidebar for upcoming Aloha Wear days.
Wondering what’s appropriate for Aloha Wear? Here are the excerpts from the Student and Parent Handbook:
Friday, August 20, was our first Convocation of the year. Dr. Rod Chamberlain, Vice President for Campus Strategic and Academic Affairs was the guest speaker. Our keiki looked beautiful in their white polo shirts, slacks and skirts.
