Our Home Center Area is now a Shoe Store. The children are enjoying trying different shoes in the dramatic play area. The dramatic play pretend area is often the place where the most imaginative and involved play occurs. We do not allow stereotyping based on sex. All children should be allowed to explore any “role” they choose. “Trying on” various roles helps children process and understand their world. Centers need to be rotated often to prevent boredom (and behavioral problems due to boredom) in the classroom.

Today was our field trip to Kahuku Farms. First, we sampled papaya and banana. Second, we on a tour of the farm on a wagon pulled by a tractor. we saw many trees and plants. The children remembered the “mud bog” the most. Third, we took a short walking tour of the farm and planted lettuce seeds. Fourth, we ate lunch! It was a fun and educational day. Well worth the long bus ride. Mahalo to all our our parent and grandparent chaperones.
