October 13/14: 5B and 5A

Aloha e 5B students,

Today we’ll be learning about Galileo Galilei and his contributions to math and science. A short video called “On the Should of Giants” will take us through the part of his life where he improved the telescope and made his discoveries of the moons or Jupiter and the features of our moon. We’ll see how he loved to experiment and test scientific theories that came before him. And we’ll also see how his own theories and ideas got him in trouble with the Catholic Church.

This is an introduction to Galileo and the telescope. We’ll be learning more about telescopes and how it has changed over the years, as well as how it has changed our views of the universe.
