Aloha e 5A Students!
Today we’ll be going through what a Prep & Surf is for our science class. Just some new procedures for coming into science class and settling into the routine. I’ll demonstrate what Surfing is with an example of mine. You’ll have 20 minutes to get settled into science class. Class assistants need to do their jobs, students need to make sure pencils are sharpened and all supplies are read. Then find a magazine or book of your interest. This is your time to read quietly. In your science notebook on a new Draw and Write page, communicate through writing and drawing something new that you learned or found interesting. Pace yourself since you’ll only have these 20 minutes. If we have time, we’ll be able to share some of our findings with one another. This is to be complete in class, if not you’ll need to complete during recess.
CONTEST! for those of you who love to draw there is a art contest being sponsered by KTA Stores. I have flyers about the contest and 8″x8″ drawing paper, which is the required size for the contest.
We’ll begin our trimester with a Tour of the Solar System. A short video will introduce us to our solar system. I’ve paired you with another classmate for a mini research project on the solar system. Each pair is to collect as much information about their topic during class and outside of class. We’ll use this information to put together a short VoiceThread featuring our solar system. More details about the project yet to come. I apologize for not having all the specific details for you. Here are your topics and pairs.
