Let there be LIGHT!
Why? So that we can see. Light energy is energy that allows us to see and it is the first energy source that the 3rd graders are exploring in science this trimester. They were asked to explain why we need light and types of light sources, which comes from man-made sources or natural sources. They also watched as I demonstrated how light travels in a straight line using a flashlight and a water bottle. Check out some pictures of the students demonstrating their understanding of how light travels in a straight line.
They will continue to study energy by exploring more about the properties of light and then move on to sound energy and heat energy. I’m sure they have lots of prior knowledge of sound energy after hearing their performance at the Spring Concert. Thanks Mrs. Debus for making the way for science.
