`Ohana Math Night

Learning Math in the 21st Century

Kula Ha`aha`a had its `Ohana Math Night last Friday, September 23, 2011. It started off with some yummy chilli bowls for dinner and time to gather with family, friends, faculty and staff. After a brief presentation by our Math Resource Specialist, Elaine Hara, participants were able to head to their sessions. Some of the sessions were: Integrating Math & Literature, Using Math Websites, Creating A Healthy Snack (using measurements), Strategies & Games for Addition & Subtraction, Play is Practice. All these sessions had a focus on math and 21st century skills.

Thank you to Kumu Marcie Saquing and Elaine Hara for organizing this wonderful event. Thank you to all the faculty and staff that volunteered to lead sessions, check-in participants, prepare the chilli bowls and serve water/juice. Another mahalo goes to the Uncle Bruce and staff for cooking the chilli and rice.

Mahalo nui for all the families who participated in the `Ohana Math Night. Take a look at some pictures from that evening.
