Aloha e 4A Students,
In class today we took a pre-assessment on our first trimester goals. Here are our goals for first trimester:
I can name and find all 8 cardinal directions / points. I can explain by drawing or writing why the earth has seasons. I can name and identify at least 2 constellations.
Prep & Surf is what I’ll be calling our new procedures when you come into science. After class today, I thought it through and thought it needed some refining. I’ll go over the final procedures with you during our next class. Basically, its taking the first 15-20 minutes to complete the following tasks:
Prep: making sure your pencils are sharpened and you have all other supplies ready for class Surf: finding a book or magazine to read and explore. Quietly read an article or book to gain new knowledge through science literacy. During this time, you are to complete a Draw and Write in your science notebook. It should include the title of the book/magazine article, date. Provide an interesting fact or interest that you read about with an accompanying picture.
After that activity we went into our class discussion of The Shape of the Sky. We read a small book that highlighted what is the celestial sphere and finding your way using the cardinal points/directions. The class took some time to go outside in the beautiful sunshine to practice finding the cardinal directions. Great job everyone!

Have a wonderful evening!
