Wednesday, November 30, the traveling cast members of H\u0101\u02bbupu were featured as part of the nationally syndicated radio show “From the Top” which was taped live at the William Charles Lunalilo Center on the KSH campus. \u00a016 members of the cast were present along with four young instrumentalists\u00a0from across the country. \u00a0The students performed excerpts from H\u0101\u02bbupu<\/em>. \u00a0Senior Daylan Kala\u02bbi and junior Leiana Clarke were also interviewed by host Christopher O\u02bbRiley. \u00a0Mr. Mahelona was also interviewed, but his interview will only be heard on the From the Top<\/em> podcast.<\/p>\n

Selected students also participated in an Arts Leadership Outreach on Tuesday, and a follow-up seminar on Thursday.<\/p>\n

From Hilo, the production team will travel to Honolulu to tape their final episode of 2016.<\/p>\n

With an\u00a0audience of more than 3 million,\u00a0From the Top is America\u2019s largest\u00a0national platform dedicated to celebrating the stories, talents, and character of classically-trained young musicians.\u00a0Their signature radio program,\u00a0NPR\u2019s\u00a0From the Top with Host Christopher O\u2019Riley<\/em><\/strong><\/a>, is the most popular weekly one-hour classical music program on public radio, heard by nearly\u00a0half a million listeners on more than 200\u00a0stations nationwide.<\/p>\n

The show featuring the KSH students will air on KHPR-1 (89.1 in East Hawai\u02bbi) on Saturday, January 14, 2017\u00a0at 10am.<\/p>\n
