ʻŌlelo Hawaiʻi

PERFORMANCE TASK

Create a simple haʻi ʻōlelo hoʻolauna to introduce your Legacy ʻohana member. Remember to include their full name, their parents, grandparents, where theyʻre from, their birthdate and age. Once you’ve completed those, you may add on your simple pepeke painu and pepeke ʻaike he sentences to add to your haʻi ʻōlelo.

ANNOTATION

Task Completion

Student completed the task of sharing her Legacy ʻohana member and in addition, included simple sentences.

Comprehensibility

Student responses were clear and understood and required minimal interpretation from the listener.

Fluency

There was some hesitation (ex: kupunakāne) but the student continued with complete thoughts and for the most part speech flows smoothly.

Pronunciation

Does not interfere with communication, other than some small inaccuracies (ex: “Wāhine”).

Vocabulary

There was adequate and accurate use of vocabulary.  Student attempts to extend vocabulary by using hua ʻōlelo hou specific to her kupuna kāne (ex: ʻōniʻoniʻo).

Language Control

Student showed an emerging control of sentence structures (ex: ʻo, painu, he) as demonstrated at :37 seconds in the video (He makemake…).
