PERFORMANCE TASK

“You finish a sports event at Waiākea Uka Gym, your makuahine is at Keaukaha Elementary School for another event and cannot pick you up. She calls you an uber to take you to Keaukaha Gym. When the Uber driver picks you up, he only speaks Hawaiian, explain clearly your directions from Waiākea Uka Gym to Keaukaha on My Maps. Draw out your map with 2 pins (Hoʻomaka and Hōʻea) then explain using all vocabulary covered in class. “E piʻi…E iho…E kāʻalo iā…E hoʻomau…E hele pololei”.

ANNOTATION

Task Completion

Student completed the task as described with elaboration using “kāʻalo”, “hele pololei”, and “ma ka ʻaoʻao hema i ke alanui ʻĀinaola”.

Comprehensibility

Responses were understandable with minimal errors (for iʻoa).

Fluency

There was some hesitation as the student was giving directions. Some portions were rushed and others had longer pauses, however, she continued with complete thoughts.

Pronunciation

Pronunciation was understandable with subtle errors (ex: Kawailani)

Vocabulary

Student used vocabulary appropriate for task, interspersed use of ʻōlelo Pelekania (ex: gym)
