Kindergarten: English Language Arts

PERFORMANCE TASK

In preparation for ʻOhana Day, you will be creating a design to represent your piko and gift to your ʻohana. Your design should tell us about what is important to you (i.e., your inoa, ʻohana, your kuleana). Share your manaʻo.

You will answer these nīnau–What does the design tell about your piko? Why did you choose this design?

Students will create their design then print using ʻalaea on kapa (Kupesi)

ANNOTATION

Ideas and Content:

CLARITY – Main idea was generally clear & included additional information & ideas -explained manaʻo behind the design; told the story of fishing with the family on Sunday, catching the fish and eating it
SYNTHESIS – Makes a connection to express an idea or thought- connected the enjoyment of the family activity with being able to eat fish

CLARITY – To be advanced student would need to add details (i.e. where they like to go fishing, what kind of fish they catch, etc.)
SYNTHESIS – To be advanced student would need to move beyond the activity (fishing) and share how the activity impacts the ʻohana i.e. get to spend time together, enjoy each other’s company, talking story, learning about fish/fishing
