Recently I held our monthly drawing for ixl math. Students who were able to meet their monthly goal for October had the opportunity to win a Jamba Juice card. These were the lucky winners for the month of October: Top picture (Halai T., grade 1; Shay B., grade K; and Reece G., grade 2) Bottom picture ( Dioni L., grade 5; Shawna M., grade 3, and Mikayla D., grade 4). Mahalo to all the students who continue to use IXL!

IXL Drawing for October
Greg Tang
I recently had the opportunity to meet Greg Tang. Who is Greg Tang you ask? Well, he is a well known author of some great math books for children. In fact you may recognize some of his book titles: The Grapes of Math, Math for All Seasons, and Math-terpieces. These books and more can be found in our library in the math section. Go over and check them out! You’ll love them. Mr. Tang also has an awesome website that includes ebooks, games, and materials. One of my favorite game is one called, Kakooma. Try it out. The best part of his site is it is all FREE! Just go to gregtangmath.com.
Do I Have My Seven Skills?
Here is an easy way for you and your keiki to keep track of the amount of skills he/she has practiced on IXL.
- Type in your username and password.
- Click on the heading, “Reports”.
- Click on “Status Update”.
- Click on “Overview”.
- Scroll down to the bottom to find the section called, “Skills Practiced”. This is where you will find a listing of the skills your child has worked on and the SMART Score.
- Remember to make sure that the correct grade level and date range is listed.
IXL Math Reminders
The end of the month is quickly approaching and I wanted to briefly remind you that our first drawing for a free Jamba Juice or Yogurtland card will be done on October 1st! Those students who are able to master 7 or more skills will be eligible for this drawing. Also remember that those students in grades 3-5 only, SMART scores of 80-100 achieved on a skill will be counted towards your 7 skills mastered. Students in grades K-2 will still need to achieve a SMART score of 100 in order to have their skills counted. Good luck! I hope it’s YOUR name that I draw!
Congratulations William and Leigh-Ann!
Congratulations to William in KB and Leigh-Ann from KA, as they were able to complete the kindergarten level in IXL Math! Awesome
job! They have both moved onto the first grade level and learning more
everyday. William and Leigh-Ann were able to receive a special prize of
their choice from the treasure box!
