Change is Good!

Aloha!  After nine years of being the elementary math specialist, I have taken on a “renewed and revised” role as the Language Arts and Math resource teacher for grades 3-5.  A welcome change?  Yes, indeed!  With this, I have moved down and near the upper elementary teachers and their haumana.

If you have any questions or would like me to assist you in finding resources in the area of language arts and math, please do not hesitate to call or email me.

Applying Math Skills to Create A Kanehailua Hale

Students in my current grade 4 FLOW group worked on a project in which the task was to design a floor plan for our po`o kumu, Mrs. Kanehailua.  Students studied actual floor plans and learned about how to calculate square footage.  They also worked on calculating the costs of some of the possible materials and supplies in order to build the home.  They were amazed at how much building a home really costs!  In the end, Mrs. Kanehailua listened to a short presentation from each student and was able to view their floor plans.  She could not get herself to choosing just one home design.  Mahalo for your time Mrs. Kanehailua!
