width: 640px;\"><param name=\"movie\" value=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/v\/lpvgfmEU2Ck?version=3\" \/><param name=\"allowFullScreen\" value=\"true\" \/><param name=\"allowScriptAccess\" value=\"always\" \/><embed type=\"application\/x-shockwave-flash\" width=\"640\" height=\"390\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/v\/lpvgfmEU2Ck?version=3\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" allowscriptaccess=\"always\"><\/embed><\/object><\/p>\n<p>We\u2019ve all probably experienced this when attending presentations, which is why this video is SO funny.\u00a0 I laugh every time I watch it!\u00a0 So how do we teach our students to give good presentations?<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.readwritethink.org\/classroom-resources\/lesson-plans\/creating-better-presentation-slides-1167.html?tab=3#tabs\">ReadWriteThink<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.actden.com\/pp\/\">PowerPoint in the Classroom<\/a> both have excellent resources for teaching kids how to create effective and meaningful PowerPoint presentations.\u00a0 But we also have to remember with the emergence of Web 2.0 tools, there are now FREE alternatives to PowerPoint.\u00a0 Below are just a handful of some of the Web 2.0 Tools that students can use to create presentations:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/prezi.com\/\">Prezi<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.glogster.com\/\">Glogster<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.google.com\/google-d-s\/presentations\/#utm_campaign=en&amp;utm_source=en-ha-na-us-bk&amp;utm_medium=ha&amp;utm_term=google%20presentation\">Google Presentation<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.sliderocket.com\/\">Slide Rocket<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/voicethread.com\/\">Voice Thread<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The beauty of the above tools:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>They\u2019re accessible from any computer, anywhere as long as one has internet connection<\/li>\n<li>They can been shared with peers, students, parents, etc.<\/li>\n<li>They allow for collaboration<\/li>\n<li>They don\u2019t require a flash drive<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>One important thing to consider when using any Web 2.0 Tool in the classroom is the terms and conditions of the tool.\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/twitter.com\/#!\/techsavvygirl\">Lucie deLaBruere<\/a> has put together an excellent resource for information addressing terms and conditions of Web 2.0 tools and privacy policies.\u00a0 Find it <a href=\"https:\/\/sites.google.com\/a\/fcsuvt.org\/technology-dept\/home\/tech-training\/animoto\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>What\u2019s your favorite presentation tool?\u00a0 Do you have any student samples you can share?<\/p>\n<div id=\"s-share-buttons\" class=\"\"><div class=\"s-single-share\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"fb-share-button\" data-href=\"https:\/\/blogs.ksbe.edu\/elcordei\/2011\/07\/20\/alternatives-to-powerpoint\/\" data-type=\"button_count\"><\/div><\/div><div class=\"s-single-share\"><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/share\" class=\"twitter-share-button\"><\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div><div class=\"s-single-share\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"g-plusone\" data-size=\"medium\"><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div><div class=\"s-single-share\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<a href=\"mailto:?Subject=Alternatives%20to%20PowerPoint&#038;Body=Here%20is%20the%20link%20to%20the%20article:%20https:\/\/blogs.ksbe.edu\/elcordei\/2011\/07\/20\/alternatives-to-powerpoint\/\" title=\"Email\" class=\"s3-email\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.ksbe.edu\/elcordei\/wp-content\/plugins\/simple-social-share\/includes\/..\/images\/share-email.png\"><\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Edutopia has an excellent Summer PD titled, Web Tools Collective Series.\u00a0 I just read Part 4 of the series and my absolute favorite Youtube Video about how not to use PowerPoint was shared: We\u2019ve all probably experienced this when attending presentations, which is why this video is SO funny.\u00a0 I laugh every time I watch &hellip;
