I just finished watching Boni Hamilton\u2019s ISTE presentation, Best Resources for Elementary Integration and Transformation<\/a>,\u00a0online and decided she will be the inspiration of my first ever KSBE Blog post.\u00a0 Hamilton\u2019s \u201c3 Things\u201d advise in invaluable.\u00a0 She believes, and I happen to agree with her, that a teacher should have a goal of implementing three \u00a0new things a school year.\u00a0 She says, \u201cevery little<\/em> change is HUGE<\/strong>\u201d and if you make many<\/em> changes you\u2019ll go under.\u00a0 Ivisited her wiki<\/a> and chose 3 resources to share here. <\/span><\/p>\n

Make Belief Comix<\/strong><\/p>\n

\nWhen students create comic strips, or comiX, they practice reading, writing, and story telling.\u00a0 At this site students can create comix using different backgrounds, characters, props, and text bubbles.\u00a0 Hamilton has this resource listed as a middle school resource, but I feel it can be used in grades K-12. A list of 21 WAYS TO USE MAKEBELIEFSCOMIX.COM IN THE CLASSROOM <\/a>can be found at the website and additionally, Read Write Think <\/a>has a variety of lesson plans <\/a>that use comic strips in education.\u00a0 Google and UNESCO<\/a> selected this site as among the world’s most innovative sites to encourage reading and literacy.\u00a0 If you use this resource or have in the past, please let me know if you have any hints you are willing to share for success.<\/span><\/p>\n

\nThis site is like a math manipulative for conducting effective and efficient online research.\u00a0 It\u2019s excellent for teaching Boolean logic and\u00a0uses Google’s Strict Safe Search<\/a>.\u00a0 The website includes a variety of lessons and a discussion board where teachers share their successes using boolify.\u00a0 Watch this video to see how it works!<\/span><\/p>\n
