Aloha e n\u0101 Ohana!<\/p>\n
My name is Corrina Ann Revilla Kay, and I come to Kula Ha\u02bbaha\u02bba after 24 years of teaching for the Hawaii Department of Education. \u00a0I taught at Kohala, Keonepoko, Kalaniana\u02bbole and Waiakeawaena Elementary Schools. \u00a018 of those years were as a 5th grade teacher. \u00a0My last 2 years with the DOE was spent as a District Resource Teacher for College, Career and Community Readiness in our Hilo-Waiakea Complex Area. \u00a0This will be my 11th year teaching grade 5 here at Kula Ha’aha’a.<\/p>\n
Having grown up in Puna, I graduated from Pahoa High School in 1985 and earned both my bachelors degree and professional teaching certification from the University of Hawaii at Hilo. \u00a0I am also a National Board Certified Teacher.<\/p>\n
I reside in the Waiakea Uka area with my husband, Adam Kay Sr., and my 2 children Aleah (22) and Haiden (19).<\/p>\n
My Teaching Philosopy<\/strong><\/p>\n My main objective as an educator is to cultivate and nurture students to be the best human beings they can be. \u00a0I aim to inspire students to dream big and support them in doing the work it takes to achieve their aspirations. \u00a0In today\u02bbs 21st century world this means far more than just passing on content knowledge. \u00a0We must help children to develop skills in the areas of literacy, critical thinking, problem solving, communication, collaboration, quality work ethics, creativity\/innovation, and STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and math). \u00a0The state of our world also requires that we address student attitudes and dispositions in a way that rears positive character & behavior traits, an admirable & solid moral compass, and the grit & resilience for dealing with life\u02bbs many obstacles and challenges. \u00a0These are all key tools that will equip our KEIKI to be “FUTURE READY”.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Aloha e n\u0101 Ohana!
