Kilakila `O Maui (Majestic Maui) – by Alice Mahi Keawekane
Kilakila `o Maui i ka roselani
`O ka `oi nō ia e kaulana nei
`O ka wehi roselani, lei onaona
He mau i ka ihu o ka malihini
I ke kai kāua a `o Kahului
Lawai`a hukikolo, hukihuki mālie
Ha`ina ka puana o ka Roselani
Ha`aheo `o Maui nō e ka oi
Majestic Maui, whose flower is the rose
Is well known for its excellence
Its favorite adornment is the rose, lovely in a lei
Giving cool fragrance that charms the visitor
Let us go to the sea of Kahului
The draw nets are pulled in slowly in rhythm
This is the end of my song of the rose
The pride of Maui, the best of the islands

Contest (assigned) Song: Hilo Hanakahi
Lyrics:
|
Haʻina ka puana
I ka ua kani lehua
- Hilo of Hanakahi
- Where the rain is in the lehua forest
- Puna of the fragrant bowers
- Fragrant with the blossoms of the hala
- Kaʻū , a windy district
- Wind that scatters the dust
- Kona, land of calm seas
- Sea marked with sea lanes
- Kawaihae has a sea
- A sea that whispers
- Kohala has a wind
- A gusty wind
- Waimea has the rain
- A cold pelting rain
- Hāmākua cliffs
Cliffs where the bird soars
- This is the end of my song
- Of the rain in the lehua forest
