Aloha 5th grade parents,
Each year I take our 5th grade students to the annual Na Mele O Maui song competition where they compete with other schools throughout Maui County in a choir setting. The date for this years event is : TUESDAY DEC. 9th at the MACC. We will be singing 2 songs which are both sung in Hawaiian.
I am happy to announce that the rules of Na Mele O Maui have been revised to allow a group bring 48 singers. This means that I can take everyone along to participate as long as they pass know their lyrics. As has been tradition, I only take 5th graders. Your son/daughter’s ticket to participating in this annual event is simple: Pass the 2 different tests (written or sung).
We just received notice of the date and theme for this years event earlier this week. With not much time to practice and learn 2 songs, I ask that you help support your child in their efforts.
Our first written test will be on WEDNESDAY OCTOBER 29th which is an A day. All students have known about this test since last week and we have been practicing the song in class for a few weeks now.
Please have your child study the lyrics and practice singing at home. The words and music to our first song can be found in the “Na Mele O Maui” section of my blog.
Mahalo,
Mr. Tuitele
