About Me

Aloha! My name is Kumu Chauna Rickard.
I have been teaching at Kamehameha Maui for 6 years. I was born in Honolulu and raised in Kāneʻohe on the island of Oʻahu and graduated from Kamehameha Schools, Kapālama. I earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics from Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, California and a Masters of Education Degree and State Teaching License from Chaminade University of Honolulu.

I previously taught on Oʻahu for ten years (collectively) at Kamehameha Schools Kapālama and Sacred Hearts Academy, teaching various middle & high school level courses. In 2014, I made the move to Maui  and began teaching at our Middle School, Pre-Algebra & Algebra. In 2017, the opportunity to return to high school came, so I jumped; I love math!

I moved to Maui in the summer of 2014 when I married Kaholo Rickard who teaches Algebra & Geometry here at our high school. Together, with sons, Logan (15; KSM’22) & Perry (4); and daughter, Paisley Joy (3), we enjoy the outdoors and all things sports…you can catch us at KSM sporting events always cheering on our Warrior Student Athletes!!!

I look forward to an awesome school year with you! Know that I am here to help you succeed and am willing to help! Have a wonderful year!

I MUA KAMEHAMEHA!
