{"id":912,"date":"2011-11-15T22:08:33","date_gmt":"2011-11-16T08:08:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogsksbeedu.wpenginepowered.com\/castack\/?p=912"},"modified":"2011-11-15T22:18:09","modified_gmt":"2011-11-16T08:18:09","slug":"student-led-small-group-skyping-engaged-learners","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.ksbe.edu\/carichar\/archives\/912","title":{"rendered":"Student Led Small Group Skyping = Engaged Learners"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In the culminating activity of a project with their Baltimore buddies, the fourth graders in 4A participated in small group Skype sessions during technology class today. \u00a0 Last week the fourth graders wrote a descriptive paragraph and uploaded it to Edmodo. \u00a0 The students descriptive writing skills were then &#8220;put to the test&#8221; as their partners on the other side of the United States drew pictures based on the clues given in the descriptions.<\/p>\n<p>Today, partners shared pictures drawn based on each others descriptions.<\/p>\n<p>The fourth graders loved having this opportunity to lead their own discussions with their Baltimore friends.\u00a0  They were engaged in the project from beginning to end, knowing that their work was going to be read and used by an important audience far away.\u00a0  During the Skype session the students were very excited.\u00a0  As I was listening to conversations I couldn&#8217;t help but feel proud of our students as they successfully communicated with peers thousands of miles away.\u00a0  I am so inspired by all our Baltimore and Hawai&#8217;i keiki!  You are awesome!<\/p>\n<p>Great job student filmers and photographers.
