Our third and fourth grade students have had three exciting experiences recently.<\/p>\n
Ms. Everett’s class skyped with a class in a suburb near Chicago.\u00a0 They learned all about the “ABC’s of Winter Weather!”\u00a0 The students shared everything from blizzards, snowmen, cocoa, ice skating, hibernation, gloves, to mittens and zipping up with us.\u00a0 The descriptions gave us a very clear picture of what their 20 degree weather must feel like!<\/p>\n
Kumu Silva’s class taught a group of students in Wisconsin about volcanoes.\u00a0 The students at Sunset Elementary School in Whitehall, Wisconsin were amazed by some of the stories that we told about Kilauea volcano.\u00a0 Kumu Silva’s students also had a chance to ask some questions about what life is like in Wisconsin.\u00a0 We learned that they enjoy many of the same sports and activities that we do.\u00a0 We also learned that Wisconsin is four hours ahead of Hawaii.\u00a0 And guess what?\u00a0 It was snowing outside as we were skyping with them!<\/p>\n
Kumu Kala’s students participated in a “Mystery” skype that was very challenging for us indeed!\u00a0 It wasn’t long though, before our partners guessed that we were from Hawaii.\u00a0 We learned that in their state they grow corn and soybeans.\u00a0 Their state borders Lake Michigan, and they are located in the midwest.\u00a0 We were finally able to guess Indiana!\u00a0 We had so much fun with our friends at Northview Elementary School!<\/p>\n
