Our Visit with Hōkūleʻa and Her Crew

Those little kinders in the video are in second grade this year.

On Thursday, ʻAnakala (Uncle) Billy, ʻAnakē  (Aunty) Penny and ʻAnakala Kaniela came to talk to the students at our elementary campus.  Then on Friday our whole school, staff and students, went out to Honolua Bay to visit and pay respect to Hōkūleʻa and her crew.  We are so proud of her crew and all that was accomplished on their worldwide voyage; especially that of sharing and learning about being sustainable and mālama honua (caring for our planet).  To see Hōkūleʻa and have a chance to honor her in person will forever be one of my favorite memories.  I can still hear the sound throughout the bay of everyone performing the oli.  You can hear us too, by listening to the second video below.
