November Project:

Goal:  Create a safety video that will be used to teach tool safety to 6th graders.

Instructions:

  1. See what tool you are assigned below.
  2. Review the tool safety test for the tool you are assigned.  Know the correct answers.
  3. Review the tool safety sheet for the tool you are assigned.
  4. IMPORTANT!  Be sure to cover all the material in your video that is on the test!
  5. Maximum video length = 8 minutes
  6. Create your safety video using Quicktime (Quicktime Instructions)….You will be making a screencast.
  7. You may show a youtube/online video of someone using the tool, however, mute the video sound, because I expect to hear your voice explaining the correct tool use and  function.
  8. You may show the test document from time to time and talk about certain questions.  Please try not to just say the correct answers.  I would rather you explain the correct way to use a tool which gives the correct answer in the end too.
  9. You can show a picture (image) of the tool and talk about its safety features.
  10. You can use iMovie or another movie editing tool to clean-up your final project.
  11. This is a summative!  Organize and plan.  Write a script and create a bank of resources (you can use more than one video, picture, or safety sheet to help you complete the project.
  12. Project hints…Introduce yourself at the video’s start (Name & year), use the zoom tool to see tool detail, use a spotlight cursor (mouse) to highlight something on your screen, and speak slowly and clearly.
  13. Finally, you will have 3-4 full class periods to finish this project….In other words..I expect it to be good:)
