‘Ölelo Hawai‘i Bill

If the Hawaiian language is one of the official languages of the state of Hawai‘i, why then are there so many state signs that use the incorrect spelling of and use of Hawaiian?

Being a language of only thirteen letters, it is imperative that the spelling is accurate.  Something a small as the omission of the ‘okina or kahakö can change the meaning of the word.  Once again state lawmakers are considering a bill to mandate the proper use of ‘Ölelo Hawai‘i.  Here’s a link to a story on KGMB9.
