Can the state sell “ceded” land?

Today the supreme court held arguments regarding the legality of selling Hawai‘i’s ceded lands.  There are some who believe that it is in the best interest of the State of Hawai‘i to sell these lands, while other argue that the state doesn’t not have the authority to do so.  Here’s a link to KGMB9’s Sunrise program with a phone call to Attorney General Mark Bennett from Washington D.
