Today we experienced some Wacky Weather, which prevented us from going to Hawai’i's Plantation Village as we originally planned.  Please use your knowledge about the weather to describe your observations.  Make Mrs. Kutsunai and Mrs. Redona (and me!) proud. =)

Today we were fortunate to have John Stokes, his family, and Brother Noland lead us on a short hike through our upper campus trails.  Why do you think it was important that we experience this hike?  What did you learn that you think you will be able to use in the future?  Please explain.

We’ve started to observe the life cycle of monarch butterflies and the stages they go through as they change. What changes have you gone through since you were born? What about during your time here at Kamehameha?  What do you think is important about theses changes?

Last Tuesday we visited Pearl City Urban Garden on a field trip. What new things did you learn there? What did you observe or learn about at the garden that connected to our learning in school?

We heard you are studying Hawaii Volcanoes National Park and are learning about the different animals there. This is a picture of a Nene, which was taken on the island of Molokai last year. The Nene is our state bird and one of the few places it can be found in the wild is in Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. It is one of the animals on the federal endangered species list. We would love to “blog” with you about other animals in Hawaii and learn about the animals in Oregon. Have you ever seen a Nene? What is your favorite wild animal?

We’ve been learning about insect life cycles and the stages they go through as they change. What changes have you gone through since you were born? What about during your time here at Kamehameha? Have all of the changes been positive?
