Community Partners – Mahalo to Big Island FCU

Over four years ago Big Island Federal Credit Union located in the Shipman Industrial Park provided an opportunity for KS Hawai’i to hang student art work. The walls were very large and very beige – student art work brought life and color to the financial institution. Hundreds of students have had the joy of seeing their work be displayed with positive comments from employees and members. This past Thursday I hung thirty seven new pieces for the community to enjoy.

This time Tiare the Branch Manager was so excited about the new artwork she jumped right in to help change the show. Also, one of the bank employees asked “Do you remember me? You were my teacher at Waiakea Intermediate.” That was thirteen years ago…and Zachary has grown up quite a bit!

So if you get a chance, stop by and admire the work of your classmates and say mahalo to the credit union staff that welcome your work and support the arts.

Grace and I toured the show and very much enjoyed it. The Credit Union was very quiet when we stopped by and so we were able to talk with the various people working as we looked around. They were gracious to us both and seemed to like meeting one of the painters. Grace was so proud to have her sunflowers on the wall. She particularly wanted to see the other 1st graders works, so we found those. Thank you for putting the children’s work on display. It is so important for “artist” to get to show their work.
